Dark Side Sunset Pointe ebook
Scott's book starts out with a bang. Literally. He hooks you in right away so the book seems at first to be a normal 'who done it' kind of mystery. Keep reading.
He introduces many characters (all interesting with their own quirks) who were involved with the murdered man. And it gets better! There's this old guy (not your typical hero character) who takes crime scene photos, who also happens to have psychic powers having to do with the crimes he's photographing. This is the most interesting twist of all.
Not your typical mystery. Not your typical police procedural. Not traditionally paranormal (no vampires, thank god). But an intriguing combo of all three. I'm not sure exactly how he did it, but he does it amazingly well.
Scott had me up late reading (which is rare!) to find out who did the dastardly deed. I found this one of the few books I've read recently that kept my interest to the very end. He also sets it up nicely for the next book in the series. I definitely think he's got a winner here!

The author begins the story by describing in extremely great detail the murder that took place in the book and immediately gains the reader's attention. I really wanted to know what happened. The author introduces a plethora of suspects that all had equal chances of being involved in the crime. Lance is a very complex main character who is very detailed. He speaks with his wife (who is really dead) which makes the story intriguing. There aren't many times that this happens in a story. My attention was captured until the killer was revealed at the end of the story. I was very impressed. Great work!
BalasHapusMystery. Intrigue. Touches of the paranormal - this book has it all. Michael Allan Scott's Dark Side of Sunset Pointe is a fast paced page-turner with twits and turns along the way.
BalasHapusRight from the beginning we are pulled into a double homicide - one that quickly becomes a who dunit with the suspect list growing ever longer as connections are made with each turn of the page. The main character, Lance Underphal, just want to get from one day to the next, but he quickly finds that's not so easy when visions and messages from his dead wife become reality and the bodies begin to pile up. With every vision, although unwanted, Lance realizes he may be the crucial person to solve these murders before more people are killed.
Michael Allan Scott does a great of drawing the reader in right from the get-go and keeps you turning pages to find out what's going to happen next. His use of flashbacks is a great way to add to the intrigue of the mystery and in trying to figure out who is behind the smoking gun. Scott crafts a great story with multi-dimensional characters and a plot that makes you wanting more.

It started off with a bang not a whimper, this book is action packed which I totally love. If you're looking for a thrill ride you won't get disappointed with this one, the pages just flew by because of the mystery and thrill i'm feeling. I give credit on how Scott wrote this book with such great writing skill. I totally got hooked from start to finish. I can't explain how imaginative the writing is that it's so vivid I can picture out the scenes really happening in my head. I also commend the author for writing such a great character, I totally can relate with Lance's struggles and I fell for him... hard! As the story comes to a close, I felt really attached to the book that I don't want it to end. I was happy yet sad that it's going to end but the conclusion of the story satisfied me in all aspect!
BalasHapusOnce I began this book, I decided to put it down temporarily as I started it late at night - the paranormal really got to me! The next morning in the "daylight," I picked it up again and finished it by noon! Michael Allan Scott draws you inside the mind and soul of his main Character Lance so much that you are "living his own visions right along with him!"
BalasHapusThis book is one those that you will love and will then want to reread it in a month or so just to see what you missed. Congratulations to Michael for another WINNER!
Lance Underphal is a freelance photographer who is still mourning for his dead wife. One problem: she still talks to him from the great beyond. And when Lance is called to a crime scene, what he sees through the lens of his camera sends him spinning - he sees the murders actually happen. The homicide detective, Salmon, realizes that Lance's visions can help him solve the murders. With his dead wife whispering in his head, telling him to keep digging, and Salmon wanting answers sooner rather than later, Lance tries his best to keep his sanity while psychically chasing after a killer, who isn't done killing yet...
BalasHapusThe first book I've read by Michael Allan Scott, Dark Side of Sunset Pointe is an intriguing blend of whodunit murder mystery with a psychic twist.Lance Underphal is definitely not your average hero but has a unique background which leads him into his psychic abilities.Watching him figure out his abilities and come to grips with them while figuring out who the murderer is was wild ride.Throw in an interesting police detective and sympathetic news reporter and you have a great cast that I hope continue in future stories.
