Pure and simple on-the-go convenience!

Photive 2600mAh Portable Battery Charger

Photive 2600mAh Portable Battery Charger

This product has been invaluable for me when traveling by air. My HTC evo phone uses battery power quickly, no matter how settings are optimized. This is especially true because I use it as a wireless hotspot when faced with no or limited internet connectivity.

On a typical trip, I have used most of my phone battery power waiting for the flight(s). By the time I arrive, I have no power left. (I know that alot of airports have made it easy to recharge in the terminal, but not the ones I use most.)

The things I like most about this product:

1. it charges my phone quickly, and charges itself quickly
2. it takes spotting opportunities for recharging off my mind
3. it is small and light
4. it is very reasonable in price considering how inconvenient it is to have a great phone with no power

One more note: even though this product is very simple to use, it is useful to know that there are printed directions included with this product. Another review mentioned that there were none. When I got mine, I first thought there were none, but I had to look more carefully as the paper is tucked in to the white box. If I did not look carefully, I would have discarded the directions inadvertently.

  1. holds more charge than energizer's portable charger. be careful not to leave any cords attached to the output slot when toting because it will take away battery life by doing so. portable enough to put in skinny jeans pockets!!!

  2. I travel for work, and never travel without a portable charger. Soon after getting my Photive charger, I was on a trip with several other people. When they lamented the short battery lives of their iPhones, I whipped out my little charger and handed it to one of them. She was so happy to get her phone working again. I spent the rest of my four day trip sharing my charger with whomever's phone had died, and everyone that I was traveling with vowed to buy one of their own immediately.

So I was happy with the product already, but today got a phone call from the company, calling to make sure I was happy with my purchase. Best customer service I've encountered in a long time!

  3. So glad I checked Amazon, the idea to purchase this type of product originated from a Woot deal, thankfully I checked Amazon before ordering and found this product with larger mAh and at a lower prices than the "deal" I was supposedly getting. Was very happy with my order, it arrived earlier than anticipated and once I charged it was good to go. Great product, I've only had to use it one time so far, but was pleasant surprised with how quick it charged my Iphone and it's small and compact fits in my purse with ease. Would defiantly order again from this retailer, and these might make great stocking stuffers for Christmas next year.

  4. Yup, works fine. Very compact too.
One minor nit: if you leave the USB cable connected to it, the LED lights up even when the other end is not connected. Not a big deal, though.

  5. This is one of the best portable charger/battery that I have tried over the years. The 5V and full 1Amp of this unit charged a iPhone 5 from less than 20% to full in less than two hours and there is plenty more power left to fully charge other devices (1 mifi devices and a Galaxy) over the next couple of days.

It is lightweight and slim. Think of it as a longer version of the standard iPhone charge block (about the length of 2 AA batteries).

  6. It just works. It has a micro-usb port in it that you plug into any micro-usb charger to charge it. then it also has a regular USB port that you use to plug your phone/ipod/kindle/psvita or anything that can charge using a regular USB port and it is just like it plugged into a regular wall charger.

The 1000mAh output means that it should take roughly the same amount of time to charge your device as it would take when it is plugged into the wall, and the 2600mA capacity should be enough capacity to be able to fully charge your device at least one time (just divide 2600 by your battery capacity and that is how many times you can fully recharge your battery from this battery without having to recharge this battery - for my droid3 battery is 1500mA capacity, so I can recharge it fully 2600/1500=1.73 times, my ipod4g battery capacity is 930mA so I can recharge it 2600/930=2.8 times).

It is small enough to keep in my jacket pocket, it probably weights similar to a small handful of coins. I only wish there was a way for me to be able to see how much juice was left in the battery so if I don't use it for a long time I know that it is still fully charged, but for this price I doubt that would be possible - I know the large more expensive ones have that feature but those look to big and heavy for me to keep in my jacket pocket.

Overall, for this price it is a no-brainer for everyone to just keep one fully charged in their jacket or bag for those times that your device is dead and you need to use it but can't plug it in to the wall, or you don't want to be tethered to wall. I will never have to look for an outlet again in a restaurant, airport, starbucks, friends house, etc.
